MTD IT Email Templates
Ready-to-use template built for accountants and bookkeepers — just download and go
Use this text to create the templates in your Engager account. They aren’t built into Engager, so create each one as a new message template under Settings > Communication > Message templates and paste in the text below (see How to add email templates). Put the subject line in the template’s E-mail subject: field and the rest in the body. [Contact First Name], [Contact Pref Name] and [Manager] are placeholders, so they fill in automatically for each client. [SigningRequestLink] is only offered for templates in the eSigning Request category, so create Email Four in that category. [Custom:MTDITYear], [PeriodEnd:C_ITQR] and [DueDate:C_ITQR] only work once you’ve created the matching custom field (MTDITYear) and a custom service with the matching service code (C_ITQR in these samples); if your own custom field or service code is named differently, change the placeholder to match. Blog 1, Blog 2 and “Book a free call” stand in for your own content, so type those in by hand and link them to your own pages. For example, your two blogs might be “What is MTD ITSA and How Will It Affect You?” and “MTD ITSA FAQ: Everything You Need to Know”.
Email One: Making all clients aware of MTD IT
Subject: Get Ready for MTD ITSA: Free Resources and Support
Dear [Contact First Name],
As you may know, Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD ITSA) started in April 2026 for self-employed individuals and landlords with income from self-employment and property over £50,000, and from April 2027 it applies over £30,000 (from April 2028, over £20,000). This is a significant change in how income tax will be reported, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
We are currently assessing when you will be impacted by the change and if you are already MTD ITSA compliant or not. We will send a separate email soon confirming both of these points and what further steps you need to take with our support to meet the requirements of MTD ITSA.
To help you prepare, we’ve published two helpful blogs on our website:
- Blog 1
- Blog 2
These resources cover everything from what MTD ITSA is, to what steps you need to take to comply.
As the rollout continues, we’ll share more updates and guidance to keep you informed.
If you have any questions or want tailored advice, we’re offering free consultations to help you navigate these changes. Book your session today:

As part of our review for MTD IT, we do not believe you are ready for MTD IT.
We are doing the main work for you, but by [Custom:MTDITYear] you need to do the following:
- Choose MTD-Compatible Software: Select software like QuickBooks, Xero, or FreeAgent to manage your records and submissions.
- Keep Digital Records: Begin storing all income and expense records electronically in your chosen software.
