Companies House doesn't link / sync

Step-by-step fixes for companies house doesn't link / sync in Engager

'my data isn't syncing'

From time to time, we'll get clients saying that their clients' data isn't pulling down the information from Companies House.

First thing to check will be in your settings. It's all part of the basic set up but it sits at the bottom of the screen and often gets missed as people want to get started asap!

Check your Country of origin

  1. Head to Settings and, under Practice details, select Company Information.
Practice details settings card with Company Information highlighted as step 1
  2. Head right down to Country of origin: and make sure it shows the country where your company is registered (England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland), then select Save.
Company Information form with Country of origin set to England and Wales highlighted as step 2, and the Save button highlighted

Bring your client data in

You'll then be able to go back into each client one by one and, in Step 1: General info of the client form, select Import from Companies House.

That's one option, or why not wait until midnight and let Engager pull down the info in one go from Companies House.

All you then need to do is approve the changes when you log back in the next day, in Settings > Client data > Companies House updates.

***Please note***
We will never update your data automatically. We would never override your details without consent, hence this feature.

Within the list, you can see the client, the area that has been identified that has a change / discrepancy, and all you'll need to do is review and then accept the recommended change. Clients that can't be matched are listed under Sync errors on the same page, with the message "Client not found in Companies House".

For a step by step guide to reviewing and accepting changes, see Companies House updates, what we'll check for you and what you need to do to accept the change.
